Every year, the Maryland Association of Soil Conservation Districts (MASCD) gives various awards for different areas of excellence in service and attendance to the soil conservation offices.
Below, Charlie Miller, Chairman, with John Swaine, Chairman Talbot County SCD, accepted awards for Outstanding Leadership for himself and Outstanding Communication for our Conservation Quarterly Newsletter.
Wickes Westcott received a Certificate of Recognition from the Kent County Commissioners on July 20, 2021 certifying 52 years of service as member of the Kent Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors.
His service includes 26 years as chairman of the board. At 97 years old, he continues to serve as an associate supervisor.
His dedication and commitment are admired and well respected by all those that have served with him.

Jenny Lee Freebery received the “Outstanding Employee Award”.

August 2018: Board member Wickes Westcott received an award for 50 years of service to our board! He served as chairmen for 26 years and even in his 90s continues to be an active board member who is passionate about soil conservation.
